MEMORANDUM SEP 19 1977 Mayor and Council “September 19th, 1977 L.D. Pollock City Administrator Re: Vector Control Officers Conference Council may be aware that our Vector Control Officer, John Nelson, resigned effective August 3lst, 1977 and he has been replaced by Mr. Tony Kluge. Mr. Kluge is fully qualified in this field, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree and has considerable experience in Vector Control. Mr. Kluge has asked about attendance at the Northwest Mosquito Control Conference October llth to 13th, 1977 in Calgary. John Nelson was intending to go to this Conference and the required amount has been included in the 1977 Vector Control Budget. Although Mr. Kluge will only have been on the job just over a month, I feel that there would be an advantage in him attending as it is the main conference annually that deals with: new methods of pest control and vector ae control and it is attended by many of the Provincial Department of Agriculture As officials. It would be an advantage therefore to have Mr. Kluge attend this to provide continuity to the Vector Control Programme rather than to wait a full ‘year until this conference comes up again. I would recommend that Council approve Mr. Kluge's attendance at this conference and that his expenses be paid, the amounts to be charged to the Intermunicipal Vector Control Budget. ———“ ; ae ie L.D.
