Dear Mayor and Council:

As we move towards a new set of transit services for Surrey; Deita
and White Rock, we plan to institute two more regional FastBUS trunk services.
_Qur regional transit services are designed to serve focal points of transit
activity in each municipality through which they pass, and these particular
new FastBUS routes are the first stage of service expansion for Surrey, Delta
and White Rock that will, in fact, bring a new measure of service to the
residents of your municipality. We propose to entitle these new services
(a) the 800: Midway Connector FastBUS; and (b) the 820: Canada Way FastBUs.

Route 800 would link Port Coquitlam, Essondale and New Westminster,
providing an hourly express bus service. This route would provide for work
trips between these two points and the hospital complex, and for linking New
Westminster directly with our North Bank Town and Country BUS sexvices by
timed connection at Port Coquitlam. This route is seen as a major east-west
regional cross link, eventually being extended via Westminster Highway to
Richmond and the Airport, incorpoxating the F-70 Westminster Highway FastBUS
scheme of the 1971 GVRD transit study.

Route 820 would be the Canada Way FastBUS to replace the Pacific Stage
Lines New Westminster to Vancouver bus service, with some detailed changes to
ensure greater reliabllity and to provide FastBUS trunk services to Burnaby
Municipal Hall and B.C.I.T.. Our Canada Way FastBUS would eventually be ex-
tended into North Surrey te provide FastBUS services there.

We are ready with the necessary vehicles and men to begin this
service by the end of the year. We would ask Council for their consideration
of the attached route specifications and for their staff's help in aiding.the
implementation of these new FastBUS services.
