NEW BUSINESS:

Alderman Traboulay referred to previous discussions with respect to
the City operating its own nursery, and inquired whether any thought had
since been given to this matter. The City Engineer advised that the
proposal has been considered, but no definite action has been taken or
recommendation made as yet. Alderman Thompson advised that three years

ago the Parks & Recreation Committee made some serious attempts to get

costs for a nursery operated by the City and it was found to be more
economical to purchase small plants. Alderman Traboulay stated he would
like to see the cost structure.

Alderman Ranger <-terred to the Council's policy established last
year for the selective clearing of trees, and stated he thought there
would have to be changes made due to the fact chat some larger trees,
particularly those in a forested area, are potential windfalls, and
Alderman Keryluk, Chairman of the Environmental Protection Committee,
agreed to have the matter reviewed.

Alderman Ranger referred to the new Recreation Complex
that is presently under construction on the North side of the City, and
stated he would like to see Port Coquitlam have a naming cortest for
thet facility.

That a contest be held in the City of Port Coquitlam for naming the

new Recreation Complex presentiy under construction on the North side of
the City, and that the Leisure Activities Committee establish the rules
of eligibility therefor. Carried.
