BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Under the Provincial Waste Management Act, the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) is required to prepare and submit a solid waste management plan for the region. The first waste management plan was prepared in 1985/86. The GVRD began a three stage review of the existing plan in 1991. During Stage I, waste management options were identified with input from a range of stock holder groups and interested members of the public. Stage II of the plan review bega:: in March 1993. Over the next eight months, independent consultants hired by the GVRD will work with industry and community organizations as well as interested members of the public to assess waste management options and develop a recommended waste management system. Accordingly, the GVRD is inviting residents to participate in a community workshop on Saturday, June 26, 1993 at the Bonsor Recreation Complex in Burnaby (6550 Bonsor Street) where you can provide your views and comments on the future waste management system for the region. The workshop will be held between the hours of 9:90 am to 4:30 pm. Al; aa ipy Deptty City Engineer JEY:ck Attachment
