T EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW Fort Coquitlam Figure Skat: 7g Club, on behalf af all ice users in the city of Fort Caquitl- have been attempting through informal discussions with the Department of Recreation to obtain one sheet of ice during the spring and summer for over twelve months. This -r-"osal to the elected council af the City of Fort Coquitlam is our npt to address the issue directly, avoid the delays, and to appeai directly to council to provide this much needed facility. Contained in this proposal are the elements of aur request: the detailed financial principles involved, the benefits to skaters in Fort Coquitlam, as well as our vision for future spring and summer use of the facilities. It is our objective ta obtain twelve weeks of ice use during 1988: commencing in early June, following tne city’s saventy~ fifth birthday celebration, running into the start of the reqular winter schedule which generally commences in early September. Hetween Figure Skating, Minor Hockey, Ringette and the various old-timer associations, we believe a minimum of fifty- five hours per week would be guaranteed. With little marketing effort, a further forty to fifty hours per week could, we believe, be sald. Fort Coquitlam Figure Skating: .b 15 prepared to operate under either of two alternative approacieas. 1.
