Catt Biase docecentan Va ctee ees We ary WW wenn sore MEMO TO: ALDERMAN E.W. MABBETT oo SEPTEMBER 5, 1974 OM: W.S. WINGROVE RE: BURNING FROM LAND CLEARING L contacted Mr. Pollock and he stated the City is not responsible to supply an alternative if the Council was to amend the Fire By-law to stop- all burning from land clearing. I would suggest that the City does amend the By-law and stops all outside burning with the exception of 2 one week periods per year for residential burning. I would also like to recommend that. no smokeless burners be allowed to operate in Port Coquitlam unless -dt is set up permanently and to the satisfaction of this Committee. I have contacted the District Fire Department and they feel that if the City and the District have a similar By-law on outside burning it would “be much better for both. If you are in accordance maybe we could draw up an amendment to the By-law and have it come into effect January lst, 1975. I will be on vacation from September 6th to September 23rd, 1974 and Jimy Boileau will be Acting Chief. ; We have decidéd to make the upstairs of the fire hall into living quarters for the paid men instead of building onto the present living quarters. We have so designed the upstairs so we can sleep five men, have - a kitchen and T.V. room and still leave a large enough area for a meeting - yoom. This will be far cheaper and I think supply 2 better living area for the paid men. wsw/dv
