MADE IN CLAY Spring Sale (April 29, 20. May J) Update The January 13th meeting pot off to an interesting start. Derek from Security at CMHC on Granville Island forgot to come to open Performance Works and let us in. We all adapted and had the meeting in the gallery. A real bonus was Kaoru’s husband, David Coates and his partner Rod Roodenburg, from lon Design Inc. came and showed us some of the fabulous advertising work they have done and are willing to do for us. Their artistic talent and artist budget sense will help us achieve a great look for our advertising - and is much appreciated. Remember, if anyone has space to billet someone from out-of-town phone Elsa ($26-1221) and let her know. She also needs to hear from any participants from out-of-town that want to be billeted, ArtQuake is the Street Festival happening on Granville Island March 12 and 13th. We will be doing a Raku fund raiser as part of the event to help raise money for the sale (we hope to fund banners with the proceeds). Everyone has been notified about this event and aware they need to drop off 10 - 20 pots at the Gallery to be stored upstairs in the office by the end of February. Lewis Krzycezkowski is coordinating the Raku, and he is still looking for a few more volunteers - so whether you are in the sale or not and would like to participate, give him a call at 986-4920 he'd appreciate the help. [f you have any old quilts or sleeping bags to donate, please drop them off with your pots. And thanks everyone, Is anyone a certified electrician or related to one? If you are, please let me know (Cathi 929-9175) as we anticipate the need to call on such a person and we can pay too! Its an interesting experience doing something like Made in Clay for the first time as you're never quite sure exactly what you need but try to be prepared for everything. Once the advertising is ready, it will need to be distributed. Everyone will need to participate in distributing posters/flyers in their area. If you have a line on extra good locations we'd love to hear about them. Publicity in your local newspaper would be very helpful. We will also have a posteard/direct mailer of some kind as well and will need to know how many you will need. Everyone's enthusiasm and willingness to chip in and help out has been super - preparations are really moving along. Talk to you next month... Cathi Jefferson ELECTION 1994!
