drag race meet in Smithers. on
Sunday, Sept. 22. The meet was
held on grass in Jim Storey’s hay-
field. .

‘entries and attracted 320 specta-
tors in spite of inclement weather.

Timbermen one for

four in Whitehorse

The Terrace Timbermen old-
timer hockey team managed only
one win in four tries at the White-
horse Labatts initial oldtimer
tourney of the season during the
third week of September.

They met all Whitehorse teams
in their five-team section for
round-robin. Terrace won 4-1 in

their opener against the 45’s.
Then they dropped their next
three contests — 5-1 to Gold
Rush Inn, 9-1 to the Gold Puck-
ers, and 5-3 to Duncan.

Action in the Northwest inter-
city tournament league will start
at Prince Rupert next month.
