To the editor, Why are Canadians making so much fuss about bilingualism and about street and store signs in more than one language? . Signs should be. in a multitude of languages if that is practical and con- venient. Take, for example, the islands of Hawaii. Nobody gets mad to find Latter signs all over in English, ‘French, Spanish, Japanese and Native languages. They are very helpful. If Canada with its dif- ferent ethnic populations wants to join the world and wishes to attract tourists from abroad, then we should be allowed to - put up signs in as many languages as seems to be pragmatic. - To make an issue of the English/French language. situation is typical for ex- tremists who appear to. ‘have nothing else to do and who seem to be op- posed to ‘‘peace on earth’’. _ Bill Homburg, Terrace, B.C. ‘Letit R.A.F.T. thanks donors To the editor, Responsible Action for Teens (R.A.F.T.) would like to thank the following persons who have very kindly donated monies to this project to date: Terrace Oldtimers’ Hockey Club, $25; Frank Donahue Insurance, $25; Kinette Club, $50; Inland Kenworth, $50; Cassie Hall School, $25; Dr. Zuc- chiatti, $25; George Stanley, $100; Jean and ‘Donald Strangway, $400; Skeena Sawmills, $100; and Terrace Centennial Lions, $25. Young people between the ages of 12 and 15 years old are. par- ticipating in the sports and recreational programs. In the past few weeks, public attention has been directed towards -R.A.F.T. and its work. It is gratifying that many in- dividuals have shown their support and it is especially exciting that the City of Terrace has been willing not only to endorse our project but also offer some assistance in keeping the programs going. The children who have been showing up at the door have participated in programs organized by R.A.F.T., such as candy making, Christmas crafts, pizza making, and video nights.
