Alderman Gates ~ -Alderman Mabbett December 7th, 1981. Planning and Zoning Committee under the Chairmanship of Alderman Keryluk and expressed his appreciation to Planning Consultant Art Phillips and welcomed the new Director of Planning Mr. Bill Brown. Alderman Wright referred to the introduction of a Community Plan and the possibility of anew land Usage Act and advised he was Chairman of the Community Development Committee and attended the Downtown Revitalization Committee meetings under the Chairmanship of Mr. G. Specht. Alderman Wright advised he is Proposing three newsletters be produced in 1982 to keep the public informed of what is going on at City Hall. Alderman Wright then expressed his appreciation to the City Staff for their cooperation and welcomed City Administrator Kiyan Kirk. Alderman Gates then addressed the meeting and advised for the next two years he will participate closely in the scrutiny and direction of civic affairs and expressed his appreciation to the people who elected him and stated he is looking forward to working with other members of Council to help shape the future of Port Coquitlam and thanked former Alderman Keryluk and other members of Council for their support during his first term of office. Alderman Mabbett then addressed the meeting and advised he was Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee and expressed his appreciation to his Co~Chairman Alderman Gates and Recreation Director J. Taylor and stated several major items have been accomplished - completion of the Reeve Street all-weather soccer field; additional baseball diamond at Thompson Park; new tennis courts and play area at Imperial Park; a new concession and change room Proposed for the near future at Thompson Park with plans for a Bronco baseball field also at Thompson Park; playground equipment now in Evergreen Park and improved access to Hyde Creek Pool for the handicapped. Alderman Mabbett advised he was Co-Chairman of the Library Construction Committee and Co-Chairman of the Community Development Committee and served on the Downtown Revitalization Committee; Alternate Director of the Greater Vancouver Regional District and served on the Water and Waste Committee. Alderman Mabbett referred to the difficult times with high interest rates and stated he will continue to do his best to look after the good and welfare of this City and then thanked everyone for coming and wished everyone the compliments of the season. wth aes,
