COU! Members of Council August 21st, 1975 AUS 25 1GFS Mayor J.M. Camphell I had lunch and a meeting with Mr. Harvey Beech, Premier Barrett's Executive Assistance, Mr. Wayne Harding, Executive Assistant to the Minister of Highways, and Mr. A. Walisser, P. Eng., Region District Engineer. The topics that were discussed were the Sharpe Street opening, the pier in the Coquitlam River Bridge, the Red Bridge, and the Shaughnessy alignment, Mr. Harding is going to try to send some member of his staff to Monday's meeting to inform us of why the decision to put in the central pier. He will also let us know, hopefully by Monday, when Sharpe Street will be opened, but they think it will be by Labour Day. I have asked for a time schedule on the Shaughnessy alignment and Mr. Harding has assured me that he will be contacting me. in the near future. I pointed out the advisability of. us getting involved in the Red Bridge replacement. I was explaining future... plans might make it feasible to build a four-lane bridge - possibly in another area. I will be hearing about this I hope by next week. Iam enclosing copies of correspondence from Environment Canada showing’ that they have accepted the bridge on the Coquitlam. By the way, this has been the major holdup and is the reason that the bridge is not opening “this year.
