Re F.River Raft

Race 1975, referring to its plans for the Second Annual Raft Race down the
Fraser River on Sunday, May 18th, 1975 and inviting the Mayor and Council

of Port Coquitlam to part‘cipate,

Moved by Alderman Traboulay:

seconded by Alderman Keryluk;

That the City Clerk be instructed to contact the various Service
Clubs in the City and offer them a $100.00 donation if one of the Clubs
will agree to build and operate a raft in the race for the City.

REPORTS:

Pub. Wks.Comm. re From the Public Works Committee, March 2lst, 1975 referring to the
Pollution Control

Permit appln.- proposed issuance of a Pollution Control Permit to Marine Plastics Ltd.
Marine Plastics
and suggesting that the Greater Vancouver Regional District and/or the
Pollution Control Board be requested to hold a public meeting so that
the various circumstances could be reported to the adjacent property

owners.

Moved by Alderman Ranger:

Seconded by Alderman Mabbett;

That the report of the Public Works Committee, March 2Ist, 1975,
referring to the proposed issuance of a Pollution Control Permit to
Marine Plastics Ltd. and reconmending that the Greater Vancouver Regional
District and/or the Pollution Control Board be requested to hold a
public meeting so that they could explain to adjacent property owners
the circumstances which have resulted in the application and the requirements

that are likely to be contained in a permit be adopted.
Carried.

The suggestion was made that the City should inquire of the G.V.R.D.
concerning the standard applied in cases such as this and that the
qualifications necessary to become an "official objector" should also be
ascertained. Alderman Ranger referred to the City's Health By-law and
suggested that if it can be confirmed that a problem is present inquiries

be made of the City's Solicitor to determine whether or not the City's

Health By-law could be made applicable.
