We must sound a note of alarm at this point, because it is becoming obvious that unless the tempo of the financial campaign increases (and quickly, at that) we will be in for quite a shock. Some clubs have not managed to submit any money | as yet on their quotas .. . others have barely moved ahead during the past three weeks . . . others still have done very little, with the exception of the jobs done by a few outstanding individuals. WHAT IS NEEDED AT THIS COLLECTIVE EFFORT! Those clubs (like South have already gone over the top should keep right on forging ahead; otherwise, we will never take care of the $1,700 which was never adde listed simply as “‘unpledged. ’ ALL clubs must review their plans for banquets, socials etc., check on individual pledges and generally view the Press Drive in a more serious light. Moving to Van- couver during the war, he turned his previous hobby to good use and worked on many of the major electrical installations in B.C. The Pacific Tribune, along with City students condemn race hatred in Students at Vancouver's Brit- tania secondary school have ad- dressed a letter to U.S. President John Kennedy on the racial hat- red in Birmingham, Alabama. The letter, which was circulat- ed last week and signed by over 400 students at the school, reads as follows: Dear Mr. President: We, the (undersigned) students of Britannia Secondary School, British Columbia, Canada protest strongly to the recent race riots in Alabama. Britannia is a school of all races—our classes are not seg- regated and we all participate in- school activities without a thought U.S. of discriminating against another student because he is Negro, Ori- ental, or of any other race. People are born free and equal and we at Britannia are very proud of how well all the different nationalities co-operate, repre- senting a miniature United Na- tions. We feel that the State of Ala- bama should take a good look at the high standard we have set and take a step forward in main- taining people’s rights. Thank you very much for con- sidering our letter. Yours truly, Britannia’s student body.
