Vancouver et son Festival d’été francophone

Comme un grand parapluie faisant barrage au mauvais temps, les festivals
d’été apportent a Vancouver une lumiére, des sons et des couleurs, qui ne
font pas défaut tout au cours de l’été. Le Festival d’été francophone de
Vancouver, comme son nom, l'indique, est une des meilleures illustrations
de ce qu'un événement culturel peut apporter a la vitalité d'une métropole
comme Vancouver en pleine saison touristique.

Depuis des années, les Francophones et les Francophiles se sont battus
pour qu’existent 4 Vancouver des événements qui aménent la musique et
les arts de la scéne 1a 00 les gens vivent et travaillent. Un a un, nous avons
su transformer nos partenaires craintifs en de véritables alliés.
Aujourd’hui, 4 Vancouver, vouloir bloquer la rue et mettre une scéne en
plein-air avec un jardin de biére n’est plus pergu comme un concept
étrange et redouté, mais cite comme un exemple 4 suivre pour que se
développe ici un tourisme culturel. Quel changement de mentalité!

Voila une manifestation concréte de 1 ‘apport de la francophonie 4 la
société britanno-colombienne que nous ne devrions pas oublier de
signaler lorsque l'occasion se présente... Bon Festival d’été francophone
de Vancouver!

Vancouver and its Summer Francophone Festival

Like a great big umbrella protecting us from bad weather, the summer
festivals bring light, sound and colour to Vangouver that last all summer
long. The Vancouver Summer Francophone Festival, as its name tells us, is
one of the best examples of what a cultural event can contribute to the
vitality of a big city like Vancouver in the full swing of the tourist season.
With it, we become part of a new grouping called Vancouver, City of
Summer Festivals, and one that is determined to promote this reality.

For years, Francophone and Francophile people in Vancouver have
struggled to create events that would bring music and the dramatic arts
into the places where people live and work. One by one, we have managed
to transform our timid partners into real allies.

The Francophone community can be proud of the fact that it has helped to
prove that popular festivals do not necessarily give way to excesses (even
if there is a beer garden) and that they are a necessary manifestation of
the vitality of a big city. That makes for a concrete contribution from the
francophone community toward British Columbian society that we must
not forget to highlight whenever we get the chance... Enjoy Vancouver's
Festival d’été!
