Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: LAURIER DRAINAGE PUMP STATION (Public Woxks Committee Mecting of November 1, 1994) That Council authorize Dayton & Knight to proceed with the preparation of the design and tender for the Laurier Drainage Pump Station based on a two-pump design estimated to cost $390,000 which includes 15% for engineering and 10% for contingency. At the August 22, 1994 Council meeting, Council considered an initial engineering report Prepared by Dayton & Knight Ltd. dated August 19, 1994 noting that a drainage pump station an ditch improvements were required to resolve the drainage problems in the Laurier/Lincoln area, Council authorized Dayton & Knight to complete a preliminary design and cost estimate for the proposed Laurier Drainage Pump Station A preliminary design report on the Laurier Drainage Pump Station was completed in October 1994 (A copy of the report is available in the City Engineer’s office for viewing). As noted in the attached October 28, 1994 memorandum from the projéct technician, the Dayton & Knight report presents two options: a single-pump pump station at a cost of $270,000 and a two-pump | drainage pump station at a cost of $390,000. It is recommended that a two-pump drainage pump station be constructed in order to have some | pumping capacity in the event that one of the pumps fail. 7 IRZ:cd Attachments Treasurer's Comments: There are sufficient funds in the Drainage Reserve fund for this purpose.
