RESOLUTION RE: SECONDARY HIGHWAY STATUS -— BEDWELL BAY ROAD WHEREAS the Greater Vancouver Regional District has established and is continuing to develop major recreational facilities within the Village of Belcarra; AND WHEREAS the prime focus of Belcarra Regional Park is to provide recreational opportunities for the ‘increasing population of the North-East sector, the fastest growing area of the G.V.R.D.F AND WHEREAS the Belcarra Picnic Area is a major destination point of the Belcarra Regional Park, attracting thousands of park visitors each year; AND WHEREAS Bedwell Bay Road currently functions as the only access road that is used by park visitors to reach the facilities at the picnic area; AND WHEREAS Bedwell Bay Road will continue to function as the major form of access or another 10 years or until the Woodhaven By-pass Road is constructed; AND WHEREAS Letters Patent, is not empowered i i operating and main- has agreed to support the Village in it's reques Transportation and Highways for financi the improvement and maintenance of Bedwell Bay Road; AND WHEREAS the Village's 5 year start up Road Maintenance Grants from the Ministry of Transportation and Highways expires on August 31, 1984; AND WHEREAS the Ministry of Municipal affairs has advised the Village to seek some form of financial assistance from the Ministry of Transportation and Highways; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Village of Bel nistry of Transpor- tation and Highways to ¢ i those portions of Bedwell Bay Road which are to be regional public to access the Belcarra Picnic THAT the City of Port Moody, City of Port Coquitlam, District of Coquitlam and the Greater Vancouver Regional District be requested to support Secondary Highway classification for Bedwell Bay Road.
