WHEREAS Animals are woven into the very fabric of civilization; and

WHEREAS Animals have positively contributed to the development and

progress of society and the welfare of all mankind; and

It is incumbent upon every citizen to ensure that all animals
are free from needless pain and suffering; and

‘The vanevuver Regional Branch of the British Columbia Society

for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, incorporated May 3,

1898, has actively promoted the prevention of cruelty to

animals for the past 85 years; and

At this time, the British Columbia Society for the Prevention

of Cruelty to Animals is seeking public support and understanding
for the humane appreciation of all. animals, the recognition of

theix contribution to humans and the objective of ensuring that

animals will always remain an integral part of civilization.

NOW THEREFORE I,

do: hereby proclaim the period of May 2nd to May 8th,. 1983 as
"B.C.S.P.C.A. and Kindness to Animals Week" and uxge every
member of this community to actively support the B.C.S.P.C.A.

in speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.
