Hoogendoorn PURPOSE OF MEETING: Field trip to examine problems resulting from two year moratorium on pesticides in Port Coquitlam. -PROBLEMS: Ornamental trees at City Hall: bare patches on blue spruce needles falling rapidly - caused by spruce aphid and spider mites - malathion required leaf curl on weeping birch. - caused by aphids and leaf miners -.Cygon required - tried insecticide soap ~ didn't work Plaving Fields: sm -Mckean Park very bad - Thompson Park just starting problems “-"broad leafed plants crowding out grass, large infestations, spreading rapidly -~ 2 years without chemicals - clover, plantain, chickweed, dandelion prevalent ~ weeds die in winter leaving no turf 18
