The City cannot obtain unrestricted title to the Property to convey the School Board, therefore we are not in a position to sell the property the Board. The Leisure Activities Committee has considered these facts and feels that although the site is not easily accessible from the City, there may come a day in the future when the Property can be utilized by the City. As there is little chance of recovering the value of the land, the Committee is concerned about the ultimate reduction of our total park land area without any remuneration or way of replacing this loss, The greatest concern probably lies with the fact that the site will always be within the boundaries of the City of Port Coquitlam. If a school is constructed there, servicing would have to be provided by the District of Coquitlam, our access to them for fire protection purposes would have to be through the District of Coquitlam. Council will see that this will be an awkward situation for many years to come and if there is any chance at all that the property would subsequently pass into private hands in the future, it would be very awkward for ‘tthe City to have to service and regulate this'very small portion of land which would lie within the City boundaries, but which would be not easily accessible, The Committee feels that if the Property remains as it is at present, that is in City ownership, that there will be no chance of any complications arising in servicing or controljing this property in the future, . : The Leisure Activities Committee recommends that we not relinquish title to this he foregoing problems. a WO
