5 oe gt ey = next five years from 50% to 56% for the first 5 men and from 75% to 81% of the additional men. A letter was written to the U.B.C.M. Office,on Council's instructions, objecting to this change in formula. As set out in the attached letter, the Commissioner indicates that the estimated increase in per capita cost is 19.8%. The Finance Committee feels that we should write a letter to Division Headquarters objecting to this amount of increase as it is in excess of the guidelines and also reiterating our objection to the proposed change in formula. Although it would appear that initially there would be some reduction in costs to the municipality based on the new formula, in the long run, it appears inevitable that increased costs will result. We have no detailed information submitted to indicate the long term effect of the changed formula. The Finance Committee feels that if we are to stay within the Federal guidelines with our own Budget, that the R.C.M.P. costs should not exceed the percentage allowed by the Federal guidelines, plus growth factor for a municipality. The Committee would, therefore, recommend that we write to Division Headquarters of the R.C.M.P. objecting to increases of the magnitude proposed. ‘ aris
