Safety Council officers’ recommendation that the next Safety Conference be held in Cranbrook May 11- 12, was unanimously ap- proved at the Regional Con- vention. Sixty-one delegates at- tended the two-day Safety Conference September 29- 30, at Woodworkers’ House in Vancouver, Five local unions failed to have any representatives at this highly important meet. The first couple of hours were given over to Local Union safety reports followed by a wide open dis- cussion on how to cope with ue safety problems on the job. In the afternoon, the dele- gates were given a conduct- ed tour of MacMillan Bloe- del’s Vancouver Plywood Division. The following day the Conference discussed and approved a number of resolutions and _ recom- mendations and elected new Council officers. The delegates also heard a highly informative ad- dress by Dr. Beckett on the drug problem in industry. Vancouver Plywood operation.
