THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM REPORT TO COUNCIL TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: November 3, 1993 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng., FILE: PWC City Engineer , SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR WATER/SANITARY SEWER RIGHT OF WAY OVER LOT 2, LMP 6736, SHAUGHNESSY STREET, CITY OWNED PROPERTY (Public Works Committee Meeting of November 2, 1993) RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the dedication of the six metre wide right of way along the northern boundary of Lot 2, LMP 6736 for the installation of a watermain and a sanitary sewer main provided that the developer tunnels under the tree roots in the area. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The owner of 1957 Mary Hill Road is proposing a subdivision that would be serviced by a watermain and sanitary sewer as shown on the attached Plans | & 2. The developer is requesting approval from Council for a six metre wide right of way along the northem boundary of Lot 2, LMP 6736 which is City owned property. There is one 50 foot tall Cedar tree within the right of way and two 90 foot tall Hemlock trees adjacent to the right of way. The developer is willing to tunnel the watermain and sanitary sewer under the roots of these trees in order to save the trees. Granting this right of way will eliminate the need of a another sewage pump station within the subdivision and will provide a necessary watermain loop to the municipal water system.
