THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM} TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: December 13, 1990 City Administrator FROM: I.R. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer SUBJECT: DEVELOPMENT OF LOWER MAINLAND MUNICIPAL SPECIFICATIONS (Public Works/Traffic Committee Meeting, December 12, 1990) Recommendation: 1. That the City of Port Coquitlam endorse the development of a Lower Mainland Municipal Master Specification for the purpose of tendering Municipal projects; 2. That $3,500.00 be allocated from the 1991 Public Works Capital Project Fund for this purpose. Background & Discussion: The Committee considered the attached memorandum from the City Engineer regarding a program to develop a Lower Mainland Municipal Specification. The proposed Lower Mainland Municipal Specifications are to be a common set of specifications used by all the the Lower Mainland Municipalities. The new Lower Mainland Municipal Specifications are to be based on the "National Master Specifications” system which is used across Canada by the Federal Government, and most Provincial Governments. Some of the advantages of a common Lower Mainland Specifications system would be: l. Lower costs to Port Coquitlam for preparing and administering tender documents. 2. Lower costs to contractors for >idding on Municipal projects. } c LATE TTEM | ZOTIV . ds RECEIVED AT: : aiapset —— OAS... one dies Engffieer i ym azige | DEC 14100 —— City Treasurer's Comments: I verify that there is sufficient funds in the 1991 Budget to cover the recommendations above.
