SUBJECT: Water Capital Program

RECOMMENDATION:

._That the construction of a water main on Wilson Avenue, Reeve’
Street, Kelly Avenue be inciuded in the :1986 Water Capita!
Budget at an estimated cost of $105,000.00;

And That a portion of watermain on Vincent across Prairie
Avenue be included in the 1986 Water Capital Budget at an
estimated cost of $5,000.00.

._BACKGROUND ANO COMMENTS:

The Apartment on Wilson Avenue and homes in the Reeve Street.
area at the present time lack sufficient water supply .for the
recommended fire flow. Since the City forces will not be.
instalting a water main on Broadway Street this year, there is
some crew time and equipment available for additional watermain
construction. The 1986 water utility fund shows.a.transfer. to
reserves of $113,000.00. The Committee recommends that. rather —
“than transfer these funds to reserves, the funds be utilized to.
‘solve the water problem in the Reeve Street area and also to
pre-instal! a section of watermain under the new pavement which.
is to be installed on Prairie Avenue this summer. ,

The imptementation of this recommendation wil! provide not only
improved water supply to the Reeve Street area but also be a
part of our future water network serving the proposed Apartment

area west of Shaughnessy Street.
