AAPA REO Now endemic manent cee Anaemia cae REPORT Mayor and Council L.D. Pollock City Administrator Re: “Library Furnishings Indications are that our new library premises will be available in the early part of August if the Contractor remains on the schedule. To date, we have not completed any arrangements for providing furnishings for this building and we have received no commitment from Victoria in the way of Grants to finance the purchase of theses furnishings, with the exception of a $13,800.00 allocation from the Library Development Commission, I don't think that we can rely on providing furnishings from the existing Library, as most of the shelving is built in and cannot be moved without a considerable expense and there is only a small quantity of chairs and book stacks that would be of any use. The $13,800.00 allocation from the Library Development Commission will go part way to providing some shelving, however, there is still a considerable amount of equipment needed to properly equip the building so that it can open for operation. Deducting the $13,800.00 already committed by the Library Development Commission, we will be looking for approximately $36,000.00. This may also be reduced if the Committee meets with Mr. Overend and the Library Staff and edits the list submitted. . I would like Council to consider, at this time, whether or not they wish to arrange for financing of these furnishings in anticipation of possible future Grants from Victoria. I know that Mr. Overend has submitted a further letter to the Library Development Cunmission urging Lhat they give us some indication that Grants may be forthcoming during 1976, however, I don't believe that any commitments have been made to date. In the meantime, I feel that we have to make some arrangements to equip the Library to a reasonablé standard to enable the facility to be opened. It was suggested during Budget discussions that we
