Donators of $200 or more will be recognized as a patron sponsor on the sponsor board at the Terrace Arena. Those people donating any amount under $200 will be listed in the arcna'’s skating display case. The money will go towards offsetting travel, ice rental and uniform costs for Terrace’s two Precision skating teams. These two teams, which will compete across northem B.C. this winter and perform at the Terrace ice show, are made up of 29 skaters ranging in age from 9-18 years. Cal girls take second CALEDONIA’S Senior girls volleyball team pounded their way to second place in the October 15 toummament in Houston. The focal Kermodes lost in the final to Smithers Senior Secondary 15-12, 15-10. The Senior boys team came back from their Smithers tournament the same weekend with a fifth-place finish. Gym gets new machine THE CITY'S weight room in the Terrace Aquatic Centre will soon be completed with one more picce of equipment. All the universal gym equipment was recently replaced with new equipment and users felt a latissimus dorsi machine was needed to complete the new circuit system. The old equipment was sold to Skcena Junior Secondary School stu- dents for $3,500, some of which will be used to purchase the new $2,200 machine. Players ready for West-Cans RECREATION league and Oldtimer hockey teams will get a chance to pit themselves against their peers from across B.C., Alberta and Sas- katchewan, The Wester Canada Hockey Series fires up in mid-December with the first of 10 seeding tournaments. That opener will be played in Kamloops but the wrap up takes place here in the northwest, at the Tamitik Arena in Kitimat, Mar. 17-19, The seeding tournaments are used to evaluate the teams and assign them to the A, B, C or D category. The West-Can championship for each of those divisions and respec- tive age groups will be played in Vancouver April 22-27 next year. The age categories are Open (recreational and commercial), 35-44 years, 45-49 years and 50 years and up. Teams can opt to play at the secding tournament in their own region or elect to have a change of scene and compete at one of the other sites. To participate, players must take out a West-Can membership at a cost of $59 per player. Team entry fees are $650 for the seeding tournament and $1,200 for the championship. Part of that last fee covers the cost of social events scheduled for the championship week. This father was just one of many parents at the swap trying to find ski equipment for their children. Sellers brought their equip- ment to the arena Friday night for the Saturday sale, Ski club members had first chance at the equipment from &-9:00 Saturday morning before the public sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..
