Personnel is a department that assists, guides, cautions and supports supervisors in their role of managing, directing and supervising City employees. We provide the following services: SELECTION PROCESS Classify and evaluate the job, advertise both intemally and/or externally if required, receive and screen applications, test applicants, participate in interviews, and advise on the final selection as required. Maintain a complete set of employee files and class specifications, and a current file of employment applications from outside persons interested in working fox the City. Maintain current seniority lists as called for in the collective agreeements. Co-ordinate communication between departments regarding new employees or current employees being awarded new positions. Sign up all new employees and inform payroll of hirings, terminations and all changes in current employee status, as notified by departments head, superintendents or managers. @ ssn Administer the City’s cuirent benefit package. Process all additions, deletions and changes to benefits as they occur for City employees. Inform payroll of all changes in pay or in benefit premiums to be deducted. Provide information and assistance to employees arranging retirement, preparing pension applications and related matters. LABOUR RELATIONS Assist in the preparation and conduct of negotiations with the City’s two unions. Provide clarification, advice and assistance to the Chief Administrative Officer, department heads, managers, supervisors and foremen on interpretation of the collective agreements, to ensure consistant administration of these agreements throughout the organization.
