¢ COLUMBIA a Fired Up! 30th Anniversary in 2014 by Meira Mathison FIRED UP...the excitement ramps up! We are pleased to announce the next two young artists that will be invited to join our May FIRED UP! Exhibition and Show. Next year will be our thirtieth year of exhibiting art from some of the best ceramic artists in B.C. This show will highlight our 30th Celebration —A Toast to Clay but it also highlights some exciting new young ceramic artists. As we toast our past, we look to our future, and what would be better than to feature some of the best up-and-coming ceramic artists. Jaime Willms and Lisa Christie join Cameron Stewart and Paige Coull (announced last month). Fired Up! (www.firedup.ca)will be announcing the final two artists in December. Jaime Willms graduated from North Island College with a diploma in Fine Arts. She continued to do several self directed studies with her instructors, Alan Burgess and Gordon Hutchens. Jaime’s work is primarily gas fired functional ware; however, she also collaborates with her husband, Dany Fortin, on wood-fired pieces. Her forms are strong and subtle; her pots are quiet and touchable. Jaime currently lives in Courtenay where she has a landscaping business, and continues to be inspired by all that surrounds her. In 2010, Lisa Christie moved to Nelson to attend Kootenay School of the Arts, and in 2012 graduated from ABOVE: Jaime Willms. RIGHT: Lisa Christie. the ceramics program.
