Cast chosen for historic play

The benefit performance takes the stage early in the new year

IT’S BEING called one of
the largest all-women
theatrical casts in recent
Terrace history.

Women of all ages and
from every walk of life
“flocked” to recent audi-
tions for The Vagina Mono-
logues, director Marianne
Brorup Weston says.

Twenty women have
been cast for the upcoming
Feb, 1 “V-Day” perfor-
mance al the R.E.M. Lee
Theatre, a benefit for the
Terrace Transition House
building fund.

Some of the women
who will take part in popu-

tar show — which is staged,
as the title suggests, as a
succession of monologues
featuring different women
and their stories — have
never acted before.

Others are not actively
pursuing the craft at the
moment, says Brorup-
Weston, who's thrilled
with the response — and
the calibre of the cast:
Diana Braathen, Mary Ann
Lawrence, Sandy Watson,
Robin Hollett, Dr. Lani
Almas, Julie Jacobs,
Leona Lalonde, Allison
Doig, Nancy Stone-Archer,
Dierdre McEwan, Kira

TWO new compact
discs featuring up-and-
coming singer Theresa
Fenger are now on sale
locally.

The 15-year-old
spent the past two sum-
mers in Nashville Ten-
nessee, recording the
pop and country songs
that have been included
on her two new albums.

Fenger, who goes by
the name, Theresa

recording contract — yet

being independently re-
leased.
