B6 Terrace Review — a “ Wednesday, March 14, 1990 Bits ‘n’ Pieces —— py ate top Family and friends gathered at the Terrace Pentecostal As- sembly on Feb. 10 to witness the marriage of Brenda Mae Sawatzky and Irving Russel Grypstra, both of Terrace. Pastor John Caplin of- ficiated at the ceremony. Lighting the candles at the altér were Delin Sawatzky and Corrie Grypstra, mothers of the Bride and Groom. With Valerie Sutherland on piano and Vic Lepp playing saxophone, Bridesmaid Charlene Sawatzky, sister of the Bride and Maid of Honour Tamara Dyck, friend of the Bride, entered the church to the music of Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us. The Bride’s attendants wore beautiful red satin three-quarter length dresses. Each carried a bouquet of red and white carnations. Dawna Caplin joined in on flute in a very pretty arrange- ment, when four-year-old flower girl Amanda Hansen made her entrance. Amanda’s dress was also in red satin, with a dainty layered white, lace skirt at the back. She carried a basket with red and white car- nations. She was closely fol- lowed by the Bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, Steven Sawatzky. The Bride’s dress, made by Bileen Taylor, was a gorgeous, long-sleeved white satin gown, with a lace bodice and a beautiful lace-edged boat neck. A satin train flowed from a large bow in the back. She car- ried a lovely bouquet of red roses and white babies breath. Awaiting her at the altar was the Groom and his attendants, Best Man Scott Wittke and Groomsman Randy Erickson, both friends of the Groom. The men looked very handsome in their dark suits, white shirts "and red bowties, Their bouton- nieres were red roses. The Bride and Groom said their: vows in a double-ring ceremony and the lit the Unity Candle. - While the couple signed the Register, soloist Jan Hansen sang ‘‘Love Will Be Our Home”’. _ Immediately after the ceremony, pictures were taken in the church and a reception was held in the church base- “iment. About 200 guests at- tended. The basement hall was. beautifully decorated in red and white. Len Froese was the M.C. Some members of the family sang a special song, and Soy STAM poems, composed by a friend and a family member were = recited. ‘All the guests enjoyed the wedding cake, a delicious car- “rot-cake made by the Bride and her mother and tastefully. stants osm " decorated by Jan Hansen with ‘cream cheese icing and red and white flowers and bows. . A big and very special sur-. prise for the Bride and Groom was the attendance of Piet and Elly Tamerus of Holland. They. came over especially for the wedding, without anybody knowing beforehand. After- wards the couple opened the gifts and that same evening left on their honeymoon to the beautiful country of Costa Rica. The newlyweds make their home in New Remo. Out-of-town guests came - from the Northwest Territories, Alberta, British Columbia and Holland. Grandparents of the Bride are Cornelius and Georgina Sawatzky of Prince George and grandmother of the Groom is Mrs. Jaan Bruggeman of Ter- race, The other day I looked for some loose change and had a hard time finding enough for a cup of coffee. I am one of those who does not keep the change in my purse — I hoard it. Not because I want to save it, it is just something I don’t like. It is even worse now, that — the loonies are coming at us seriously, There are not many dollar bilis around anymore. Did you know that in 1988 the Royal Canadian Mint issued 89 million nickels, 167.5 million dimes, 78 million quarters, 219;000 fifty-cent pieces and 76 million loonies? The mint also issued 742 million pennies in 1988. The reason for issuing all those pennies is that although they are officially in circula- tion, unofficially they are hoarded in glass jars and piggy banks. I’m one of the guilty ones, I think we should do away with pennies. They are ‘the dirtiest of all the money to handle and not worth anything. It certainly would lighten the load. And did you know that each penny costs a penny and a half to produce? We could pay off the country’s debt load by not making pennies. Politicians ee TA bigdog gS “eget 8 bag Brenda Mae Sawatzky, Irving Russel Grypstra — married in the Pentecostal Church February 10, 1990. don’t think like that, though — it would be too easy. Anyhow, it is just a thought. Enjoy your week, don’t waste a day, because the most > wasted day of all is that on which we have not laughed. See you next Wednesday.
