a Lo Se 16° Terrace Review — Wednesday, June 18, 1986 TERRACE — Another day of racing at the Ter- race Speedway, but where did all the cars go? by Barb Ziraldo Terrace Contributor At the start of the raceday there were 13 cars, but by the time the Jamboree Race came around, there were only five cars left. The reason for sO many cars not rac- ing was due to mechan- ical problems (anything from a blown engine, to overheating) and of course, accidents took their toll on the vehicles. Note: Due to a short- age of cars, street and hobby stock combined their cars to provide more races for everyone. Spectators lucky enough to be at the raceway, witnessed car number six hit the wall and then go off the track on corner number one. Much to everyone’s relief, driver Albert Weber, escaped unhurt but the car was out for the remainder of the raceday. Spectators saw a lot of action from spinouts, on and off the track, with the same cars showing excellent stamina in handling, to make it to the end of the raceday on a very slippery track. Car number five, driven by Ernie Perkins, set the track record for Sportsman Class with a time of 18.12 seconds. Perkins also was a dou- ble winner, taking first place in the Sportsman Heat and the Sportsman Main. Fastest times for the day in the other two classes were, Dave Reinhart in Car 555 for Hobby Class with a time of 20.47 seconds and Clayton Kerr in Car 888 for Street Stock with a time of 22.01 seconds. ’ Next raceday is a dou- ble header on June 21 and 22. Races on June 21 start at 6 p.m. and on June 22 at 1 p.m. Remember fans, come out and see the races, we need your support.
