The school was loeuted hy happy aceident in 1912 when Rev, Father Cocola, in company with In- (liun guides, were canoeing on the luke visiting Indian settlements, ; A high wind caused the lake to be- come Tough and the eanoe tcok water. The crew.pulled ashore to dump the canoe and it was then that Farher Go- cola discovered the possibilities of es- tablishing a school in these idenl agri- cultural and scenic surroundings. Following his discovery and recom: mendutiun there were many years of agitation and exchunge of letters, until the beautifnl buildings were construct- ed and the school opened in 1922. Rev. Father J, Allard was principal for the first year, foliowed by Rev,|- Father Cocola, who looked after the|' institution for ten years. Rev. Fath- er Rivet was principal from 1983° to 1936 and the present incumbent is: Rev, Fnther Wm, Byrne Grant. Each of. the prineipals left bis mark in beautt- fying and developing the school farm. There ave approximately 225 acres of land of which 155 are now under cultivation. Fifty-five acres are in alfulfu, This crop: has preduced hea- vily even on fields seeded down for eight years.
