I was certainly glad to leave South-
ampton, although it is situated in the
sunny south I did not see the sun dur-
ing the. two days \ was there. ‘On én:
tering the train at Southampton on the
South Western railway it was Like en-
tering a toy train after being. accus-
tomed to. those In Canaga, but we did
not loose any time for we travelled at
the. rate of sixty miles an hour thro
the counties of, Hantshire, Dorsetshire,
Somersetshire, ond: on to Devonshire
in a few hours. Having lots of bag-
guge T certainly missed our system of
checking throvgh, for on changing

my luggage was put off only to find on

De craving for exeitement or sport of
some kind or other. Ag soon ay my
friends saw me they evidently thought
I had holidayed long enough so I was
roped in for duty for three Sundays,
allowing my old rector to take a holi-
day. This I did gladiy and willingly.
I travelled through the week and re-
turmped Sunday for duty. I met many
old friends. During the week I made
several trips into Derbyshire, Cheshire
and other Lancashire towns, the fol
lowing week going up inte Yorkshire,
where Z again had the privilege of go-
ing through several cotton weaving
sheds and spinning mills, seeing cotton
pass from its raw state into finished
cloth. Such educational trips were in-
terspersed with rambles over ‘the York-
