DISCUSSION: The Planning Committee discussed the input received from Council; and in particular, it considered the advisability to widen the scope and response to the Task Force report and the need for a Public Hearing held by the City. It was the opinion of Planning Committee that it was more appropriate at this time to concentrate in clearly expressing the opinion of the City on the specifica of the Task Force report: Under what parameters would the City of Port Coquitlam support regional planning. The Committee concluded that other aspects of the GVRD functions and relations with the GVRD should be considered separately at a future time. With regard to public hearings, the GVRD tg spending considerable effort publicising every step of the proposed changes and there will be numerous opportunities for the Public to participate in the discussion of Regional issues at the global level. The Committee felt that that setting was a better forum for receiving Public input and for interaction of the Cities, with the Public and the GVRD, to exchange ideas on regional issues.
