6. RESEARCH, PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND STANDARDS

6.1 Greater support shauld be provided for clinical and ‘outcome
evaluation research in mental health.

6.2 An aggressive manpower Strategy should be developed and implemented
for the recruitment, placement, and maintenance (including ~
continuing education programs) of mental health professionals
outside urban areas of the Province.

All professional training programs should be encouraged to develop a
greater ‘focus on patient/client independence, communi ty treatment
methods, the multidisciplinary team approach, family involvement in
Gare and treatment, and special need groups. -
