Mayor Campbell noted the budget has increased some 26%, which is over the 10% limit recommended in.the -Federal wage and price control guidelines. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That Port Coquitlam's share in the capital cost of constructing a_ Headquarters building in Abbotsford for the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board amounting to approximately $20,926.00, be accepted in principle. Tabled. Alderman Ranger stated he felt it would be irresponsible to encourage the Board to proceed with this project when it can be seen the foundations of that body are very unstable at this time. Alderman Thompson inquired as to the immediate need for construction to start on a central headquarters building, and Alderaan Keryluk advised that the founā€˜ations of the existing building have been sinking under the main supporting beams, and additional book storage would worsen that condition. Alderman Traboulay suggested an increase in user rates or possible use of school Libraries as a means of reducing the City's cost. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the foregoing proposed resolution concerning acceptance in principle of the City's share in the capital cost of constructing a Headquarters building in Abbotsford for the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board, be tabled for one week.
