6 Terrace Review — a 7 Parenting workshop planned TERRACE — There will be a Parenting and Drug Abuse Workshop on Nov. 12 in room 3 at Caledonia Senior Secon- dary School from 7 to 10 p.m. This particular work- shop has been organized through the college and the Centenial Lions Club. Constable Ewen Harvey will be attending the workshop in order to explain the situation from the R.C.M.P. point of view (laws, war- ning signs, ect.). Northern B.C. Winter Games split in three sites The 1987 edition of the Northern B.C. Winter Games offers something different this © time around — the venues are divided for participation in three communities. In awarding the games to the Stuart-Nechako Region, it was decided to place one-third of the agenda in each of three communities — Fort St. James, Fraser Lake, and Vanderhoof. Thirty-two sports are lined up, including some new ones in which its doubtful we'll have any competitors from this area. This unique tri-city situation is a first for the games, In the past, Terrace and Kitimat have shared the odd event from the other community when they hosted. Briefs covering all sports have been for- warded to recreation departments, schools and most sports organizations. They outline each sport in detail, and contain the information that sports have to be registered with the regional games director by Oct. 24. Sports groups must register by writing to Flip ‘Cervo. at 4919 Labelle Avenue in Terrace, or contact Eleanor Kendell at 632-6235 in Kitimat. Its pointed out that registrations post dated after Oct. 24 will not be accepted. Cervo also reminds everyone that he will be on vacation until Oct. 20. Junior- senior tourney ends the Skeena golf season The final major golf tournament of the season attracted 60 players to the Skeena. Valley Golf and Country club on Sunday, Sept. 21. It was the annual junior-senior pairs tourney with adults teaming up with junior golfers in an 18-hole ‘series. This tournament has both partners tee off, then take alternate shots on the best drive to finish out the hole. Dave Paynter teamed up with Glen Gough to win overall low gross honors with an 86, Greg Saunders and Aaron Wadley grabbed second place, while the father- son duo of Wayne and Rod Epp came third. It was*another father- son twosome winning the overall low net. Harold and Brian Cox turned in a score of 61. Dan Rosengren and Laura Pruner teamed to place second. For third place it was dad and offspring, in the person of Dick and Matt Shinde. The father-son team of Harold and Brian Cox shot a net score of 61 to win top prize at the Skeana Valley Golf Club’s annual junior-senior tournament.
