Wiley angrily denied Foster’s
charge and rejected the implication
of the petition. He said it was “not
yet decided” whether further hear-
ings would be held. He complained
bitterly at the mounting protests
against the bill.

“We received 1500 wires this
(Friday) morning making that
charge,’ Wiley said. More than 10,-
000 telegrams have been received
by the Senate committee since the
_House passed the bill on May 19,
the Wisconsin Republican said.

situation, and that money be
made available to carry out neces-
sary measures to prevent a recur-
rence of the disaster.

Preparation of a first-term pro-
vincial CCF program for the next
provincial elections was announced
by Coiin Cameron in Friday's ses-
sion. “The extensive social services
which the CCF will be expected to
institute must have-a firm econ-
omic base,” said Cameron. “That
base can only be the productive re-
sources of the province.”
