July 11, 1988/168 The following people spoke regarding the proposed rezoning: Mr. M. Sollanych, 2724 Patricia Avenue expressed concern regarding che iucrease of traffic in the area and would like to see the area turned into park land or at least treed along the property line of Woodland Drive. Mr. Sollanych then presented Council with a 28 name petition opposing the proposed rezoning. Mr. Re Cocker, 2655 Tuohey Avenue referred to a letter he was sent from Remax stating that a change in traffic patterns would occur in the Westwood Street, Woodland Drive Area and that there would he a loss of residential areas, and that these changes are now occurring. Mr. Cocker also expressed concern for the number of trucks coming down the residential streets. Mr. J. Ridding, 3670 Westwood Drive stated that he is not opposed to the proposed rezoning as this is not a good area for residential purposes and that he was sure traffic problems would be taken care of by the City. Mr. R. Newcombe, 2715 Patricia Avenue believes the area is deteriorating and no longer suitable for raising a family. His family moved to the area because it was close to the school and was a quiet residential street, but the traffic has increased and truck carriers are using it to make deliveries to the car dealerships. Mr. Pe Bennett, 3635 Patricia Avenue would like to see the area upgraded as there are a lot of trucks using the area, the road has deteriorated to the point that portions are washed away during heavy rainfall there are no lights on the road, no sidewalks or crosswalks and the traffic has become intolerable. Mr. F. Patterson, 2610 Patricia Avenue commented on the extremely bad traffic problems and if the rezoning should go through would like Woodland Drive to be closed off to truck traffic. Mr. D. Koski, 2618 Patricia Avenue stated his concerus regarding the increase in traffic in an area that has two schools down the road and felt there were more suitable areas for Commercial Zonings and that they should aot intrude on residential zones. Mrs. C. Lutit, 2663 Patricia Avenue inquired into Council intentions for the Intersection of Westwood Street and Lougheed Highway particularly the Southside. Mayor Traboulay replied that the City has formed a Committee with Coquitlam City to look into the traffic problem. Mr. H. Jensea, 2572 Patricia Avenue would like his opposition to the proposed rezoning recorded. Mrs. A Leaman, 3635 McRae Crescent is against the rezoning and felt a overpass walkway should be put in for children to cross Westwood Street.
