“Mga 3 June 7th, 1976 Alderman Keryluk referred to a memorundum from the City Engineer, June 4th, 1976, being a progress report distributed to Council earlier this evening on construction of the Northside Fire Hall, and he noted therein that as at the end of May, the project was approximately 93% complete, that four progress payments totalling $167,165.20 have been approved for payment, and that the City is retaining a hold~back of $29,499.74, pending some interior finishing, etc. Alderman Keryluk then referred to the outdoor burning problem in the Oxbow Ranch area of the District of Coquitlam, and the Fire Chief advised that as a result of a call last week to the District's No. 3 Fire Hail, the Fire Chief and Mayor were called out around midnight to view the situation, with the result that the owner was told he could burn only his own material on the property, but that none could be trucked in for burning. Alderman Mabbett noted that since PoCo House has been vacant, some vandalism has already taken place, and the City Administrator advised that a tenant will be taking possession of that building shortly. Acting-Mayor Alderman Traboulay reported on his attendance at the swearing-in ceremonies of the Lions Club, at which time he stated:Mr. George ‘Kerster, M.L.A. for this area, announced that sketch plans are now being prepared for the proposed Coquitlam Hospital. Acting Mayor Alderman Traboulay then advised, that on behalf of the City, he intended to write a letter to the City's May Day Co-ordinator, Mr. Lee Kalien, thanking him for the good work he had done in connection with the production of the City's annual May Day event. Alderman Laking advised he had attended both the Political Committee meeting and the Hospital Advisory Committee meeting of the Greater Vancouver Regional District, and at the last-mentioned meeting the Committee made it very clear it was not prepared to accept the recommendations of the Poli- tical Committee that the extended care portion of the Coquitlam Hospital be built first, but rather the complete hospital, and it was also indicate. that if the "go-ahead" was given for the sketch plans to be prepared, the Hospital would definitely be built.
