The position became available recently when Bill Sturn, the. principal at Caledonia for 12.’ years, announced he had taken a job as Director of Instruction with the ‘Lillooet School Dis- -. trict. Hamakawa, who is pres- _ ently the principal of Thornhill ’ Junior Secondary School, will take over the responsibility for Caledonia effective July1. Hamakawa graduated from Notre Dame University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Eng- lish and History in 1969. He _completed his four years at Notre Dame with first class hon- ors and was the class valedictori- an at graduation. He then re- ceived his teachers. certificate at UBC one year later. He began his teaching career in Terrace at Skeena Junior Secondary in 1970, and five _years later accepted the position of counsellor at Trafalgar Jun- ior Secondary in Nelson. In 1976, Hamakawa became the principal of. Hudson Hope Ele- mentary/Secondary. School, and during his two years there added.
