City Eng.- report ~ flood December 16th, 1974 WHEREAS the Council is desirous of continuing tne operation of PoCo House; AND WHEREAS Provincial funding of PoCo House is continuing subject to a quarterly review by the Drug ani Alcohol Commission; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Port Coquitlam continue to finance its share of the cost of operation in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 for 1975, Subject to the results of the quarterly review requested by the Drug and Alcohol Commission. Carried. Mayor Campbell and Aldermen Laking and Mabbett voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued, and Mayor Campbell stated he was still opposed to the City's continued funding of PoCo House and that the report submitted by Alderman Ranger did not change his opinion. Alderman Mabbett stated he agreed with the view expressed by Mayor Campbell. Alderman Laking commented that he did not feel the facility had been operated in a satisfactory way during the past several months. Alderman Traboulay stated he was pleased with the motion put forth by Alderman Ranger and that in his opinion if one half a youngster .-uld be saved it would be well worth it. Alderman Keryluk stated he would agree that perhaps reports and information from PoCo House have not been forthcoming as much as the Council would like, but questioned whether the Council was not partly to blame for this in not demanding more of the staff at PoCo House. Alderman Ranger stated he felt this aspect cf the juvenile problem can be treated, and commented that in a report from the City Administrator it was indicated that the operation of PoCo House will be changed in 1975. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Thompscon: That a report from the City Engineer, December 9th, 1974 concerning certain aspects of the flood control program proposed for Port Coquitlam be considered at this time. Carried. Alderman Keryluk stated he wished the whole topic of dyking and drainage in Port Coquitlam to be discussed, and referred to his report on the dyking and drainage study fnr the City prepared by E.W.D.
