Mark Twain , Tramp Abroad President's Corner I had a wonderful time in Parksville at the Arrowsmith Masters Series - you real- ly put on a great show. From the partici- pant angle, everything seemed to work so smoothly - well done! This last weekend a group of members - and even some non-members - partici- pated in the Guild’s fundraiser, the “Too Good for the Shard Pile Sale”. Six teams donated pieces from their own shelves and. collected other pieces from members and friends. They then priced, pack- aged, and hauled the work over to the Lougheed. Mall where it was sold to raise funds for the Guild. I am sorry I can’t list all the donors, but I particularly want to thank: Pia Sillem, Joan Barnet, Linda Lebrun, Shirley Inouye, Rona Hatherall, Pam Harvey, Molly Magid, Maggi Kneer, Linda Reedman, Linda Doherty, Lewis and Hazel Kennett, Keith and Celia Rice-Jones, Jenny Ross, Jay MacLennan, Sandy Lum, Darrel Hancock, Dana Manhal, Daphne Scamen, Chris Heywood, Sharon Reay, June MacDonald, and Lucille Webster. Many, many thanks to those who, year after year, continue to give generously of their work and of their time for this event. As a result of your energetic efforts, we raised $5,036! Sign up now for Made of Clay, booths are going fast for the June event. This is the only Made of Clay this year as the Board has decided not to hold the December event. Jinny Whitehead Gallery Manager’s Report The Gallery staff and I are very pleased to report a first quarter gross profit increase of 22% over last year! We are encouraged that our efforts in serving gallery cus- tomers, renewing ceramic displays and assisting guild members have proven so positive and well received. The Gallery retail jury in October 2005 is full. There are so many members wishing to apply that the March 2006 retail jury is full and we are now accepting names for the October 2006 retail jury list. Jasna Sokolovic shared her passion for ceramics in creating an inno- vative and visually lyrical exhibi- tion display for her show “outside the box”. Thanks to all members who came out in support!
