Shuffle could help offshore
oil, gas prospect, says MP

THERE’S A glimmer of
good news from last
week’s federal cabinet
shuffle for those supporting
offshore oi] and gas ex-
ploration, says Skeena Ca-
nadian Alliance MP Andy
Burton.

Vancouver Liberal MP
Herb Dhaliwal’s move
from fisheries to natural
resources and having him
become the senior minister
for B.C. instead of environ-
ment minister David An-
derson might give offshore
prospects a lift, said Bur-
ton.

“T have to think he’ll be
more of an asset,” Burton
said of Dhaliwal. “He’s a
businessman and [ would
hope he’d be a bit more
empathetic than Ander-
son.”

But overall, Burton said
he doesn’t regard Dhaliwal
as 2 strong minister.
