The highways region stretching from the Queen Charlotte Islands to Burns Lake has 15 vacant posi- lions, said ministry spokesman Jane Sparkes, “They were posted but have since been cancelled because of the freeze,’” she said. Kalum forest district Orest Wakaruk said five positions there are vacant, And the environment ministry is working out the implications of the transfer of a Terrace-based conservation officer to Smithers. Ministry spokesman Elaine Bl- liot said it expects that Peter Kalina’s position will be filled.
