An alert resident noted a suspi- cious youth ‘at about 3:30 a.m. It appeared as though the youth was attempting to break into the B&G Grocery at 2701 South Kalum, The resident phoned the RCMP immediately and police officers were on the scene in less than three minutes. The youth had already left, but he was far from out of the woods. The resident noted the youth's activities, his description, and his direction of travel when he left the scene. He was apprehended within minutes. During. a subsequent’ investigation, police concluded that the youth had removed the plexiglass on one door and attempted to force the double doors at the main entratice on the _ €ast side of the building. Victoria approves corrections centre. Construction of a new Terrace. . Regional Correction Centre in Terrace is a go. Victoria approved the project in late December and Rob Watts, the district director of corrections in this area, says the architect has already started on | ~ working drawings. Watts says the drawings should be complete early this spring, allowing the project to go to ten- der. The new facility should. says Watts, be ready by the end of the year or early in 1993.
