%, . . a December 1, 1992 — File: 4553-003 (R.353) To: Municipal Councils All British Columbia Municipalities Surrey Council requests your support, in the form of letters to the Honourable John Cashore, Minister of Environment, Lands and Parks, for the following resolution: "That Council thank the Provincial Government for their initiative on recycling used motor oil and suggest they consider an alternative to the use of plastic containers as recycling companies will not accept them because they have been contaminated with oil." ” The above resolution was passed by Surrey Council at a Regular Council meeting held on November 2, 1992, following a discussion of a new Provincial Regulation (B.C. Reg. 64/92) which requires that retail outlets selling lubricating oil promote recycling and make recycling facilities available. While this is a worthy initiative, the next step, that of preventing pollution by ,t oil-carrying containers, must also be considered. 1, therefore, urge all municipal Councils to pass similar resolutions to that passed by Surrey Council on November 2, 1992. Your support can make a difference in the environmental struggle. Sincerely, o 1 Robert J. Bose Mayor ~Clkdoc 8377 THE CORPORATION OF THE DISTRICT OF SURREY, 14245-50th AVENUE, SURREY, B.C.
