October 22nd, 1984 /150 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of ‘ the City of Port Coquittam was held in the Council Chamber, ‘Port Coquitlam City Hall on Monday, October 22nd, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.C. Farnworth, M.D. Gates, J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, W.W. Stewart and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk’ R.A. Freeman, City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Treasurer J. Maitland and Director of Community Planning W. Brown. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Stewart: Seconded by Alderman Farnworth: Lone That ‘the minutes of the Regular Counci! Meeting’ held on October 15th, 1984 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: AC/01/84/10/22/01 His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboutay introduced Mr. Jack’ Homes, Secretary-Manager, British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animats, who then made a presentation to Council and introduced Mr. Michael Weeks who will succeed him upon his retirement. NP/02/84/10/22/02 His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Mr. D.A. Vipond, Staff Representative, B.C. Government Employees! Union, who then made a presentation to Council regarding the privatization of liquor sales. Moved by Aiderman Farnworth: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the Minister of Consumér and Cérporate Affairs be ‘Informed that Council is opposed to the sale of beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages in corner grocery stores. Carried. Aldermen Stewart and ‘Wright voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the resolution the City Clerk’ advised a letter had been received from the British Columbia Hotels! Assoclation, October 2nd, 1984 regarding this subject.
