THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT CGQUITLAM Proposed Amendment to Memorandum — June 7, 1983 SUBJECT: UBCM resolution requesting that the senior governments be requested to show their continued conmitment to current Centres while expanding the concept of regional Energy Information/Action Centres RECOMMENDATION: That City Council endorse the following resolution proposed by Port Coquitlam to be considered at the 80th Annual Convention of the Union of B.C, Municipalities at Penticton, September, 1983, calling upon senior governments to show their continued support for energy management and specifically to build upon the successful regional energy information program. In addition, Council should solicit the support of the other four Councils with Information Centres for this resolution to the UBCM. Resolution WHEREAS the senior governments have served both asa catalyst and initiator for Energy Information/Action Centres in Nanaimo, Victoria, Cranbrook, Dawson Creek and Port Coquitlam; AND WHEREAS these Centres have been judged successful in assisting municipalities, local homeowners, businesses Amen de d and industry with energy management 3 AND WHEREAS the Centres have helped stimulate the local economy 3 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the senior governments be requested to enter into a dialogue with the UBCM to ascertain methods which will build upon and support the current Centres while expanding the concept of regional Energy Information/Action Centres.
