' THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ¢ U \ C MEMORANDUM JUL 28 1980 Mayor and Council . July 25th, 1980 L.D. Pollock, City Administrator Re: . Environmental Protection Committee Report Mr. Jack Homes of the S.P.C.A. will be in attendance to discuss with Cou cil the question of door-to-door canvass for dog licenses. Council expressed some concern with this particular procedure. An item on the same Environmental Protection Committee Report regarding the pathological incinerator was tabled in order to determine whether Port Moody and the District of _ Coquitlam would be prepared to have Maple Ridge participate in our cost-sharing program for the replacement of the incin- erator in the future. - Z have contacted both municipalities and both Councils have already dealt with the original proposal and have approved the recommendation to terminate Maple Ridge as of December 1981]. I understand that both municipalities are satisfied with the arrangement involving three municipalities. X would think that once Maple Ridge begin to investi- gate the alternatives available to them they may very well make an approach to us. I feel though that they would team up with Pitt Meadows in order to solve the problems. I would recommend that we proceed with the resolution previously put before Council and leave it to Maple Ridge to make whatever approach they feel is appropriate. The resolution that was tabled is as follows: "That as recommended by the Environmental Protection Committee, June 30th, 1980: l. the City of Port Coquitlam concur with the City of Port Moody and the District of Coquitlam that the Municipality of Maple Ridge be informed that as of December 31st, 1981 the City will no: longer be able to accept pathological waste from the Municipality of Maple Ridge for incineration; and, ce ade ao Fe av _ ° 2. that the City appropriate annually commencing in 1981 the sum of $5,000.00 to accumulate a sum sufficient to allow for replacement of the incinerator by 1987." a eg! rp Pow «D.
